The Building of Mosques… Extravagance out of control!

The Building of Mosques

I think this is something that is being forgotten these days and it’s so sad. I see the new mosques built and masha Allah they are beautiful but they make my heart sad. Our brothers and sisters struggle… starving in poverty whilst others build beautiful but expensive mosques. It just doesn’t make sense at all.

In the life-time of Allah’s Apostle PBUH the mosque was built of adobes, its roof of the leaves of date-palms and its pillars of the stems of date-palms. Abu Bakr did not alter it. ‘Umar expanded it on the same pattern as it was in the lifetime of Allah’s Apostle by using adobes, leaves of date-palms and changing the pillars into wooden ones. ‘Uthman changed it by expanding it to a great extent and built its walls with engraved stones and lime and made its pillars of engraved stones and its roof of teak wood. (Sahih al-Bukhari and sunan abi Dawod)

We must do our utmost to follow the example of Allah’s Apostle PBUH and surely the best method of building is simplicity as in his PBUH example.

In his introduction to the hadith describing the first mosque and the expandation during the lifetime of ‘Omar ibn al-Khattab in his sahih imam al-Bukhari also quoted the following statements:

‘Umar ordered that the mosque be rebuilt and he said: Protect the people from rain, but beware of using red or yellow (for adornment) and distracting the people.
Anas said: They build mosques about boast about that, but they do not use them for worship except rarely.
Ibn ‘Abbaas said: You are going to adorn (mosques) as the Jews and Christians adorn (their places of worship)

It is clear that whilst building a Masjid is extremely virtuous it must be done with balance and not extravagance avoiding worshippers becoming distracted.

May Allah guide us and protect us all, may he bless all those struggling and may he release them from their burdens may he strengthen the Ummah and bring us all close to him and may we be amongst those who sit in the shade of his throne on the day of judgement. Ameen

Grey Areas

بسم الله
The Grey Area

Whilst shopping the other day, I bought beer battered fish by accident 😑 I didnt read the packaging properly and it left me in a bit of a situation in which I didnt want to waste the food but I was also very wary that the batter contained alcohol so was probably haram.

I made a huge mistake… I googled it. As you will well know about 6 different opinions came up… it was halal… it was haram… it was ok if I couldn’t smell alcohol… it was ok if it was not of a certain percentage etc etc… I was so confused.

Then I came across a hadith that made everything so clear subhan Allah. I wanted to share it with you all because I see so many sisters arguing about aspects of life… they get so deep into it and they all have explanations that make sense. To us.

In truth very few of us have sufficient knowledge to engage in debate on these matters. We should refer back to this hadith always and keep our opinion to ourselves unless absolutely necessary. Why invite sin by advising on something even the greatest scholars cannot decide amongst themselves on. If we are incorrect in that advise what will our excuse be on the day of Qiyamah?

The hadith is…

On the authority Abi Ab’dillahi al-Nu’man ibn Basheer (ra) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: “That which is lawful is clear and that which is unlawful is clear and between the two of them are doubtful [or ambiguous] matters about which not many people are knowledgeable. Thus, he who avoids these doubtful matters certainly clears himself in regard to his religion and his honor. But he who falls into the doubtful matters falls into that which is unlawful like the shepherd who pastures around a sanctuary, all but grazing therein. Verily every king has a sanctuary and Allah’s sanctuary is His prohibition. In the body there is a morsel of flesh which, if it be sound, all the body is sound and which, if it be diseased, all the body is diseased. This part of the body is the heart”.

Drama, drama…

The only way to stand out in dunya is to be controversial and stir up reaction

The design of dunya is to distract us from Deen and make us focus on pleasing only creation

How long are we going to stay asleep, slumbering in the false sense of security that people like us therefore we must be successful.

Allah is the one we should be aiming to please first and foremost. Dont let dunya make you forget your Creator. The only success is with Him SWT

‘Correct’ Hijab

Hey… sisters who don’t wear ‘correct’ hijab… new reverts… come sit… take some tea I got something to say…

You know that sister who shames you, who keeps trying to tell you your not a proper Muslim. She says shes better than you because you don’t cover your hair/you wear tight clothes, you will never be a real muslim like her.

Let me tell you this… the only superiority between two people is taqwa – consciousness of Allah. A scalf on someone’s head is not proof that they have taqwa. People wear hijab for many reasons other than true intentions towards obeying Allah, it’s not always a sign of piety, in some cases it can even simply a habit born of culture.

Dont let her make you feel disheartened and hopeless. Hijab is by no means strictly the first and foremost thing you should adopt… if you don’t feel ready… concentrate on strengthening another part of your Deen. She doesn’t understand the detriment of her words and how they make you feel lost and unworthy. She doesn’t understand that she is helping to make you feel like Islam is ‘too much’ for you SO IGNORE HER!!!!

You will come to realise if you do not already know that some Muslims you meet are like a huge beautifully wrapped gift. The outward appearance, the beautiful gift wrap, convinces you that inside must be something equally as beautiful. The way they dress and their words make them appear pious and god fearing. You think inside their soul must be the same. But the reality is inside that pretty wrapping is a lump of coal. Cold and black. The hearts of some muslims are the same, cold and black regardless of whether they wear hijab.

So… just concentrate on YOUR relationship with Allah and move at a pace you are comfortable with. IGNORE THE HATERS AND THEIR PERSONAL OPINIONS. Hijab is one single aspect of your Deen not the ONLY or FIRST one. Allah has blessed you with Islam alhamdulillah, you are worth the blessings, don’t EVER let anyone tell you your efforts aren’t good enough just because of the way your dress. Insha Allah with the increase in other areas the strength to observe hijab will follow with ease 🥰
