Hey… sisters who don’t wear ‘correct’ hijab… new reverts… come sit… take some tea I got something to say…
You know that sister who shames you, who keeps trying to tell you your not a proper Muslim. She says shes better than you because you don’t cover your hair/you wear tight clothes, you will never be a real muslim like her.
Let me tell you this… the only superiority between two people is taqwa – consciousness of Allah. A scalf on someone’s head is not proof that they have taqwa. People wear hijab for many reasons other than true intentions towards obeying Allah, it’s not always a sign of piety, in some cases it can even simply a habit born of culture.
Dont let her make you feel disheartened and hopeless. Hijab is by no means strictly the first and foremost thing you should adopt… if you don’t feel ready… concentrate on strengthening another part of your Deen. She doesn’t understand the detriment of her words and how they make you feel lost and unworthy. She doesn’t understand that she is helping to make you feel like Islam is ‘too much’ for you SO IGNORE HER!!!!
You will come to realise if you do not already know that some Muslims you meet are like a huge beautifully wrapped gift. The outward appearance, the beautiful gift wrap, convinces you that inside must be something equally as beautiful. The way they dress and their words make them appear pious and god fearing. You think inside their soul must be the same. But the reality is inside that pretty wrapping is a lump of coal. Cold and black. The hearts of some muslims are the same, cold and black regardless of whether they wear hijab.
So… just concentrate on YOUR relationship with Allah and move at a pace you are comfortable with. IGNORE THE HATERS AND THEIR PERSONAL OPINIONS. Hijab is one single aspect of your Deen not the ONLY or FIRST one. Allah has blessed you with Islam alhamdulillah, you are worth the blessings, don’t EVER let anyone tell you your efforts aren’t good enough just because of the way your dress. Insha Allah with the increase in other areas the strength to observe hijab will follow with ease 🥰
